Free School Meals Information
Dear Parents and Carers,
Changes to Free School Meal Voucher System
Following changes to the way in which the Government intends to fund the current arrangements to the free school meal voucher scheme, we have been forced to change the way in which we provide vouchers to you.
From now on, we will now be using the Government’s centrally funded scheme, from a company called Edenred, to provide vouchers to you all. The new vouchers will be of the same value as the ones that you have previously received and will be sent to you over the next week. If you have provided us with an email address, you will receive the voucher directly from Edenred by email – so look out for it in your inbox. If we do not have an email address for you, we will post the vouchers out to you.
The Edenred scheme offers more choice than our current system in terms of supermarkets. The vouchers can be used at the following stores:
- Morrisons
- Tesco
- Sainsbury’s
- Asda
- Waitrose
- M&S food
- Aldi
- McColl’s (including RS McColl’s and Martin’s)
If your child is now back attending school and is therefore receiving a free school meal on those days, then your voucher will still provide money to cover the days when they are not attending. So, if your child is attending school 3 days a week, your voucher will cover the 2 days when they are not.
If you have any concerns or questions regarding the vouchers once they arrive, or if they do not arrive in the next seven days, please contact the site your child attends on the usual number.
